the implication is that this type of governing doesn't work? Seems to be the case but then the other agencies that could be involved - anti-competition, FAA, etc. don't appear to be the least concerned. Perhaps a "We, the People" lobby group should be established?

Kudoes to AirBaltice and Starlink. "Starlink, which can deliver up to 350 Mbps to aircraft..." this compares to a measly 3-5 Mbps on most large airlines - and they charge for that "service". The question that arises though: is that 350Mbps per aircraft? - which suggests that the more users there are that 350 Mbps is distributed between them which means for every extra user the speed reduces for each user.

absolutely agree with the above sentiments. It could very well be that in the past Boeing had resorted to similar practices and got away with it.... The finance guys aka "bean counters" nearly ruined Rolls Royce Jet Engines a few decades ago before a light came on somewhere and common sense prevailed. As Churchill once said (and I paraphrase): "those who do not know history are fated to repeat it." QED.

great believer in this ethos - it should be done at every company as a matter of course. Perhaps three months is a tad long, though. Oh, and for the COO or CEO to phone their company from an external location to hear the response.... (I did that once and was shocked....)

Corporate greed, yes.... but the bonus structure also encouraged many top individuals to take their eye off the objective (of assembling excellent aircraft) so, perhaps, we could add individual greed?

The less government has to do with regulating anything to do with how a commercial operation is conducted the better, otherwise any interference is actually socialism. Allowing competition to flourish (without governmental interference) is the hallmark of capitalism.
