True. And what is worse.... people change. Someone who was no threat 15 years ago may be a huge threat today. Real ID has no mechanism to address that reality.

Nate, I'm sorry. I must be blind. Could you please cite the exact clause of the US Constitution that says anything about having a right to freely fly throughout the US. I have read the Constitution many times. The most applicable clause reserves the right to regulate interstate commerce to the federal government. Unless you never cross state lines when you travel by air, Congress gets to regulate the interstate commerce of commercial airlines.

This wasn't an act of God. This was total ineptitude by Southwest. The weather affected all airlines and none of them had the total meltdown of Southwest. Southwest COULD have served these flyers from the gate area. They didn't have any flights coming in or going out so it isn't like they were using their gates! Every other airline was able to recover from the weather issues in hours and days, not a full f-ing week. I haven't been in the Nashville airport, but I have never seen massive amounts of seating in and around the ticketing counter. They COULD have made use of all the seating in the gate areas as they methodically worked through all those that were screwed by the total incompetence at SouthWORST!

Even able bodied people would be challenged to evacuate if they were 10 hours into a 12 hour flight. But, the traveling public is not entirely able bodied. There are travelers who are disabled, or have an infant to care for, or have a temporary mobility impairment. I have been on board a number of flights when a knee has been in recovery. So this able-bodied standard is absurd!

Exactly. One sure fire way to make me drive is if I had to listen to some clown shouting in her phone throughout a flight. If going overseas, I'd take a boat before being subjected to in air phone calls.
